USAID Program #ConservationIsDevelopment and Role of Community Radio on Biodiversity Conservation

Yesterday on date 25 April 2016, US Agency for International Development (USAID) organized Media Workshop on Biodiversity Conservation; the program venue was in Utshab Hall of Radisson Blu Hotel, Dhaka. On behalf of Bangladesh Community Radio Association (BCRA), Md. Hasanuzzaman Talukdar, Officer-in-Charge of Community Radio Naf 99.2 FM has been participated into the USAID Day-long Workshop oriented program.

17 Community Radio are currently broadcasting in different regions in Bangladesh. Those community radios are already involved to many OnAir and OffAir programs development on Biodiversity Conservation issues since its establishment in 2012. The local people are fully involved to run the community radio. Community people are engaged to produce program, edit, and broadcasting on local language and general language. The community radio programs are planning, developing and broadcasting with the active participation of community people. Community Radio is became most important community development tool and keeping effort on local development.

So in the field of Biodiversity Conservation issues community radio is very important tools to directly work in community with active participation of community people within whom the biodiversity conservation practice would be built in. So that Biodiversity Conservation will be put into people’s practice very practically and successfully through community radio.

USAID Day-long Workshop oriented program Media Workshop on Biodiversity Conservation has been carried out with Hashtag #ConservationIsDevelopment in the presence of US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat, BRAC Founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed,KCMG and others Civil Society people, university students and lots of journalists from television, radio, newspapers, online media and news agencies around the country.

Community Radio Naf 99.2 FM has planned to provide IT/ICT training to more youth (initially targeted 150 persons) in the community. So that they will able to use computer, internet, social media, website design and development, software and hardware troubleshooting, etc.
